CGI Installing

CGI stands for Common Gateway Interface. Most scripts are mostly easy to install. All it requires is some knowledge of an ftp program, some knowledge of CGI, and a CGI-Enabled server. For most scripts all you have to do is follow the easy-to-understand readme.txt file. Other script's readme.txt files are kind of confusing. Let's get to the basics:
CHMOD: To CHMOD a file is to set the file's permissions, meaning who can access it. Some examples are 777, 775, 666...etc. The readme.txt file in a script will tell you which one to use. All you have to do to CHMOD a file (in most ftp programs) is right click and look for "Set Permission", "CHMOD", or "Change File Attributes". If you find one of them all you have to do is type in the number it calls for.
Upload in ASCII: Basicly ASCII is a text transferring language, most ftp programs have an option to change to ASCII mode, and if a script wants you to change it to ASCII you better or it won't work!
