The point of the card game is the same as the video game, to catch and trade pokémon. The
basic idea of the game is you have 6 pokémon, and you must defeat your opponent. Not all
the Pokemon are in the Base set so you have to buy different decks. Pokemon types have
also been simplified. The six main types are now: Grass, Fire, Water, Lightning, Psychic
and Fighting. The card game does differ from the video game. For example, Bug pokemon
are now Grass, and psychic pokemon are now weak to psychic pokemon. The 1st edition
consists of 102 cards (Pokemon, Trainers, and Energy) and you can buy it in three forms:
preconstructed starter decks, random starter decks, and boosters. Boosters you get 11
cards and you always get a rare card.
